OVERVIEW

Admissions teams are responsible for reviewing hundreds of students. It's a process that takes a lot of time and energy to do well. Sometimes an applicants Kira Talent profile needs to be pulled up to provide the right support to them. The current way of searching for an applicant is to look within each assessment - one at a time.

If you don't have the details readily available, you're going to a hard time finding that applicant. To make matters worse, a lot of applicants share the same name. 

Kira needs to give admissions the means to look across assessments for an applicant and provide better tools to look for an applicant other than just their name.

It is complicated to find an applicant if you're unsure about the details of their assessment or if they share the same name with another applicant.

User Research

I spoke with an Admin who works on an admission team to talk about how they work when they know that they need to find an applicant. I compared their current workflow and listened for insights that would inform a solution.

Conceptualization

When I confirmed I was going in the right direction (by reviewing with clients and internal stakeholders), I focused on understanding the practical details surrounding the solution. I discussed several configurations of data to ensure what we built did the job.

We've rolled this feature out to a few clients so we can learn about how we might improve the results shown and introducing new data points into the process.
The Admissions team that we are testing with are especially happy with this feature and has claimed to have reclaimed a large amount of productivity within their workflow.

Everybody searches differently

It wasn't until we asked clients about how they search that we learned that they all see to do it differently; a challenge we overcame by getting them to rank data points and talk extensively about their workflow.
